My name is Shaun. I live in Hamilton, Ontario. I have been betting on sports recreationally for years and I got tired of picks sites that only show you the winners.
SharpestPicks.ca exists because Ontario bettors deserve better information. Not hype. Not guaranteed winners. Just honest analysis, a public record, and straight talk about which apps are actually worth using.
How I Approach This
I follow sharp money, not public narrative.
That means I am going to recommend things that feel wrong sometimes. Fading the public favourite. Taking the number nobody wants. Betting against the narrative when the line has moved too far in one direction.
That is where the value lives. Not in backing whoever is on ESPN that week.
Every pick I post has reasoning behind it. Not because I need to justify myself but because you should know why before you decide whether to follow it. The reasoning is part of the product.
And every result gets posted. Wins. Losses. Pushes. Nothing gets deleted. The record is there from day one and it will be there forever. That accountability is the whole point.
One More Thing Worth Saying
I have been sober since July 8, 2018.
I say that not to make a statement about gambling but because it is relevant context for how I think about it.
I know what it looks like when something recreational becomes something else. I know the patterns. I know the rationalizations. I know how easy it is to move from enjoying something to needing it.
Sports betting and substances are not the same thing. But intentionality matters in both. I bet recreationally. I have hard limits. I track every bet. I step away when it stops being fun.
That is the only way I would ever recommend anyone approach this. If this site ever starts feeling like pressure instead of information, that is a problem I need to fix.
